Floor Score and Seven Years Ago

Saturday, February 02, 2008

David got a bug in his britches yesterday and decided he was going to finish our floor in our bedroom. So he started working on it today. Here is the timeline (this is fairly accurate):

March/April 2004~~We decide to bite the bullet and buy hard wood for our 3 bedrooms and our living room. This is because a baby is on the way in October of 2004. The mountains of wood take up home in our garage.

May 2004~~David begins taking out the carpet and laying down the floor in what was our office (and is currently Reagan's room).

May 2004~~We buy butt loads of tile for our entry way, bathrooms, kitchen, and utility room. It is stacked up in our garage. A car moves out. Making this a "No Car Garage".

July 2004~~Kelly goes to DC. David rips out/demolishes our entry way tile. Rips out the carpet in our guest bedroom-soon to be nursery.

August/September 2004~~The office and nursery and shared bath are all re-floored (is that a word?). We have new tile in our entry way, but with no grout.

October 2004~~Reagan joins us.

May 2005~~(notice the leap in dates) Reagan shows signs of crawling so David takes out the carpet and lays down wood in our living room in about 5 days. He takes off from work for this project.

June 2005~~Being on a roll, David begins our bedroom floor. He makes it about 1/2 way across our very large bedroom. Still no grout in the entry way.

February 2007 (yes, I'm serious about the date)~~David wants to finish our bedroom because we are going to Costa Rica, and my parents are staying with Reagan in our bedroom. He completes it with 4 feet left (by 11 or so feet). Still no grout.

February 2, 2008 (yep.)~~We are having a Super Bowl party so David wants to complete our floor in our bedroom in case some people want to play Wii in our room. He prepped the floor and put down about 1.5 across (again, by 11ft).

February 2, 2008 in the pm~~David is playing Guitar Hero.

He worked really hard today. And since the hard part of prepping the floor is complete, it won't take long to finish the last 3 feet of the room. Then we can focus on ripping out our vinyl floor in our kitchen area, tile it, and grout it with the entry way. Oh, and our bathroom, too.

And then maybe our cars can move back into the garage.

Becky was right!!! In Wayne's World they are doing a scene pretending they are in different places. Like Hawaii and such. And then a screen pops up behind them being Delaware. And Wayne says in a very blah voice, "I'm in Delaware." Becky knows her movies!!

That sounds like how things USED to get done around here (And sort-of still do!) John started building a deck on our old house in Sept of 2005. It was about 12 feet by 10 feet. He finished it in November of 2006 - the day before the "ForSale" sign went up.

I LOVE that timeline. I'm sure you're frustrated, but it is quite funny!

and woohoo!!!! As soon as I read that title I immediately thought Wayne's World.

Party time. Excellent.
